‘Inclusive approaches to co-creative facilitation in musical and arts practice’

The training is practical, and experiential, including active participation in set up and delivery of a JOS model inclusive music workshop. After a lunchtime de-briefing, the afternoon sessions will focus on themes emerging from the trainees’ reflective feedback on their morning workshop experience.
Training and Workshop Schedule
9.30 - 09.45 Welcome and General Introduction
Background - inclusion, well being, socialisation, personal development, the therapeutic role of music and arts.
09.45 - 10.15 Overview
Content of JOS music session Set up, the instruments, tuning in, co-leadership, the role of silence, beginnings and endings, initiating pieces, vocalisation, generating calls and responses, search and reflect, development of pieces, phrasing, rhythmic interaction, harmony, inviting and generating creative inclusion from participants, intensive interaction, pacing, harmony circles, acknowledgements,
10.15 - 10.30 Workshop Roles
The role of participants as carers, generators, co-facilitators, co-creators and inclusive practitioners.
10.30 - 10.45 Break
Hot and cold drinks and light refreshments will be available
10.45 - 11.15 Tuning Instruments
Technique, types of instrument and general considerations and preparation, questions and answers.
11.15 - 11.30 Setting Up
Logistics, creating a welcoming environment and atmosphere, group set up, physical and seating needs and arrangements, instrument provision, greeting participants.
11.30 - 12.30 Workshop
Experiential learning.
12.30 - 13.00 Clearing up
Goodbyes to participants and post session clear up.
13.00 - 14.00 Shared Lunch Breakand Debriefing.
The whole group will be asked to stay for a freely provided lunch in situ. During lunch themes will be drawn from reflective feedback of the morning’s activities towards the afternoon’s thematically focussed workshops.
14.00 - 16.30 Themed Workshops - with short break
Explorations, games and exercises focussed on queries, issues and suggestions arising form the group’s reflective feedback on the morning workshop.
16.30 - 17.00 Closures.
Evaluation forms. Consideration of transferable aspects and skills arsing from the day’s workshops and how they might be carried forward by participants into their workplace, studies and day-to day living.
During the workshops trainees will be co-assisted by JOS trained and experienced inclusive facilitators.

£120.00 Organisations / £90.00 Waged Individuals./ £35.00 Concessions. A number of JOS sponsored places will be offered to serious applicants who are otherwise unable to pay.
